First Day in Thailand!

Late Saturday Night we arrived safely in Bangkok with our outrageous, oversized backpacks. We took a cab to our hotel in the main part of Bangkok and hit the sack immediately! Yesterday we spent our time adapting to the humdity and getting a feel for the vibrant, noisy city of Bangkok. We decided to engage in a few touristy oppurtunities while we had the chance. We spent our morning idling through the stalls of Chatuchak Market, one of the largest markets in the world, There you could find anyhing for sale: puppies, houseware, flying squirrels, glass artwork and endless amounts of Thai purses and vibrant cloth. We enjoyed breakfast at one of the stalls in Chatuchak Market : Chile rice with chicken and pad thai with shrimp! hmm... we know:intersting choices for breakfast.

After our morning at the Market we went to the Grand Palace which houses the Royal Reisidence and Throne Halls as well as government offices. The buldings are the most intricate and incredible structures I have ever seen, every rhine stone adds to the sparkle of these buildings. We spent the rest of the day strolling through markets and running some errands before we head off to Chiang Rai. Christina now has a cellphone so communicaton should be a bit easier while here in Thailand. We also experienced out first Tuk-Tuk ride (basically a motorcycle with a backbench and two backwheels), which we overpaid for, but enjoyed nonetheless. After coming back to the hotel, planning to just freshen up, we crashed on our beds and woke up at 5 this morning. Yes, what night owls we are...not ;) Sowe get to begin today early and explore Bangkok a little bit more before heading to Pattaya and Chiang Rai mid week! Sending lots of Love to you all back home!

  1. Oh my goodness girls those back packs look bigger than you..
Please be careful not to tip to far one way or another because it could take a whole team of people to get you righted..

Lots of Yoga and Thai massage to keep those backs strong Ok?

You guys will be Barter Pros by the end of your trip ( remember 40% less than what they start out, give or take) Bartering is so much a part of the culture you guys will be like locals in no time..

Sights, smells, people I bet it is all so stimulating...Was the ride bumpy and fun or rickety and scary?

Send pics of the Hotel if you get a chance. I would love to see what it looks like..

Breakfast options sound yummy..Is that at market or street vendors?

    Take Care...Love and Hugs
